Among other cities just south of Denver, Highlands Ranch was hit with severe hailstorms starting on the fourth of July and lasting throughout the entire weekend. As golf ball-sized hail and severe storms started during the early afternoon last Thursday, fireworks and celebratory plans were put on hold for the storms to pass. The on and off thunder and rainstorms continued through the evening, clearing up last minute around 8:30. The Highland Heritage Regional Park fireworks celebration was able to continue just in time as the last of the hail stopped Thursday evening.
Hailstorms and Rain Continue to Hit Highlands Ranch Through the Weekend
As rainstorms and hail continued to hit Highlands Ranch through the rest of the holiday weekend, we hope that residents were able to move their cars inside. Residents experienced hail damage to their cars, siding, roofs, and landscaping all weekend long. With the most severe hailstorm on the fourth of July, we hope that most people were able to better prepare for the weekend. When experiencing hail of this significant size, it is important to always put your safety first. Moving your vehicle in the middle of a severe storm can be extremely risky. The best practice is to try to find overhead protection if you see rain on the forecast.
